Briggate, Leeds City Centre

walking up Briggate at any time of day my mind is connected to that night, but when the street is bathed the strange glow of 'designer' lighting schemes and shop displays it takes on an aspect which is indistinguishable from the memory of that night. Taking refuge in the comfort that it is a wide street with plenty of places to run, we are content enough to continue.

Burley, Leeds, UK

There is always so much glass on the floor I worry about my flimsy shoes. I noticed the painted walls for the first time the other day as I normally watch my feet so intensely.

//introduction to the project//

Left[…and left again] is an ongoing dialogue between Lucy Gibson (Leeds, UK) and Ric Spencer (Perth, Western Australia). As each artist walks through their respective terrain, a transferral of text, imagery and conversation takes place. Both artists will generate material as they conduct walking experiments in Leeds City Centre and Western Australian. This material will then be transferred via the Internet and interpreted by Lucy Gibson within the Met Gallery, Leeds and by Ric Spencer at IASKA in Kelleberin, WA.

Visitors to the Met Gallery and IASKA will get a chance to view the work as it unfolds and see the artist experiment and make mistakes with different methods of presenting this complex research.
